In Humboldt County, sports have always been more than games — they’ve been lifelines for connection, confidence, and community. For years, athletes and families here have shown up early, stayed late, and built friendships that stretch far beyond the court, the field, or the track. Out of that same spirit, a new chapter is beginning: the Redwood Empire Sports Foundation (RESF).

Why We Founded the Redwood Empire Sports Foundation

As Redwood Empire Volleyball Club (REVC) grows, one thing is clear — there’s an incredible amount of talent and heart in our region, but not always equal access to opportunity. Many young athletes dream of competing at the next level, yet face barriers of cost, travel, or lack of local programs that nurture both skill and personal growth.

The Redwood Empire Sports Foundation is being created to change that.

Our mission is simple yet powerful:

To promote inclusive, affordable, and developmental access to sports and programs that foster athletic growth, teamwork, leadership, and life skills for youth and college students in Humboldt County through camps, clinics, competition, scholarships, and community outreach.

From Idea to Action

What began as a local volleyball club’s dream of providing better access to travel volleyball has grown into a county-wide vision. The foundation will support:

• Youth Scholarships for athletes in need of financial assistance to play.

• Community Camps & Clinics that teach fundamentals, confidence, and sportsmanship.

• College & Leadership Pathways for student-athletes balancing academics and athletics.

Through partnerships with local businesses, and organizations, RESF will ensure that no child is left behind due to financial limitations or lack of opportunity.
